#22: Forget Me Not

Are you dealing with some things in your life where you feel alone, forgotten or left behind? Sometimes your troubles seem so overwhelming that you can’t exist another day. You have no one you can turn to except for the Lord. However, your prayers have continued, but you see no tangible answer. There is nothing but silence. You feel forgotten.

As you read through the passages in your Bible today, let the Lord show you and gently remind you that you are not forgotten. Let the Lord give you hope and comfort. You are his daughter. You are not forgotten; this is certain!

In Genesis, the story of Joseph reminds you that God is with you even in your darkest, most confusing, and uncertain times of your life. Joseph has been falsely accused and unjustly imprisoned. It is evident that he had an active relationship with the Lord. But even in knowing that the Lord was with him, I have to believe that there were moments where Joseph felt forgotten while he left to suffer in his dark cell.

The Lord blesses Joseph with the ability to interpret dreams, and he correctly interpreted the dreams of his cellmates. As revealed, the chief butler was released but, “…did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.” (Genesis 40:23)

From Genesis 40:23 to Genesis 41:1 is a span of 2 years. Two full years Joseph has been forgotten by man, but not by God. Joseph was living out a nightmare in prison while waiting on God. After the span of two years Joseph got to see God work in and incredible way and prove His presence in his life.

You might be a dark and confusing situation and go a week without seeing God move in your situation. You might start to conclude that he has forgotten you, doesn’t love you or is punishing you for something. None of these were true in Joseph’s situation. God’s timing was not Joseph’s timing. You might have to wait too. BUT, you are not forgotten.

God hears you, and this is certain. God hears your prayers and knows what you are going through.

Psalms 20:1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

Proverbs 22:20-21 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth…

In Matthew, the chief priests and the Pharisees stood against the Lord, calling him “that deceiver,” accusing him and wanting him destroyed. Even in their hatred, they could “remember” what the Lord had promised.

Matthew 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

Certainly, out of a love for the Lord, we can also “remember” what the Lord has promised us and believe it with certainty.  He IS with you. He DOES hear you, and he WILL answer your prayers.

Do not let yourself be deceived and believe that the Lord has left you or turned his back on you. If you are in a holding pattern waiting on the Lord, the worst thing you could do is start to believe that he has forgotten you. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN.

Have a face to face conversation with your Lord:

Lord, is there a situation in my life where I am tired of waiting for your answer?

Lord, have I given up on you and started believing that you have forgotten me?

Lord, how do my actions make it evident that I have given up hope and started to believe that you have forgotten me?

Lord, help me to remember your promises. Help me to know that I am not forgotten or forsaken. I will hope in your promises and wait for you to move in your time.
